Leadership and Verity this International Women’s Day
Every year the School Captains of our Loreto schools around Australia gather for a conference on leadership. Under the auspices of LSAC, this meeting is where amongst other tasks, the Captains collaborate to write a prayer which is centered on the focus Loreto value for the next year, to be shared across our network in the following 12 months. Over the short time they spend together firm friendships and a community of leaders are formed, school traditions are compared and celebrated, ideas for leadership, house spirit and social justice are discussed and developed, and much laughter and story-telling is had! These young women lead our schools with confidence, integrity and a clear commitment to living and promoting the values of a Loreto education. At their gathering in late 2019, the Captains were determined to produce something collaborative for our network during 2020. And what better occasion to do so than for International Women’s Day! Here, in their own words, are their reflections on the meaning of International Women’s Day to them, as student leaders in the Loreto Year of Verity.
