Loreto Welcomes Michelle McCarty
Past student of Loreto College Ballarat and Director of Mission and Leadership at Loreto Toorak, Michelle McCarty has been seconded to Loreto Ministries for 2020.
An exemplary Politics and Religious Education teacher, Michelle is a member of the Province’s Loreto Justice Network and has contributed to numerous Loreto-sponsored projects, conferences and workshops in addition to developing written content for the MWIA and Province websites. Furthermore, Michelle’s support of the annual LSAC Student Leadership Programme each November has positively impacted our national network.
Michelle is a strong supporter of Mary Ward International Australia and Loreto Vietnam, having organised numerous cultural programs to Vietnam for Year 11 students at Loreto Toorak. In 2019 Michelle accompanied Politics students to the United Nations for a student leadership program where she connected with UN representatives Srs Cecilia O’Dwyer ibvm and Cynthia Mathew cj.
Michelle’s commitment to the Gospel and stewarding the Loreto mission is grounded in a deep faith, passionate commitment to social justice and strong belief in the capacity of young people, especially women, to assume leadership roles in our schools, church and wider world.
Together with Anne Muirhead, Michelle will focus Loreto Ministries’ strategic attention on the development of sequential formation programs for boards, committees, office staff and other members of the Loreto network.
Michelle brings excellent communication skills, a keen intellect, lively sense of humour and love of Loreto to this role. We are delighted to welcome Michelle McCarty as a faithful friend of Mary Ward, a courageous companion of Jesus and a strong Loreto leader.
