Welcome to New Executive Director for Loreto Vietnam – Mr Nguyen Viet Dung

FROM CATE SYDES, CEO OF LORETO MINISTRIES

On behalf of Loreto Ministries I take this opportunity to introduce you to and welcome the new Executive Director of Loreto Vietnam, Mr Nguyen Viet Dung. Viet Dung started at Loreto Vietnam on the 2nd January 2019. He has embraced the position with enthusiasm and excitement. Nguyen Viet Dung, whose background spans policy advocacy, fundraising and international relations, joins Loreto from PATH – one of Vietnam’s leading health organizations – where he has dedicated many years to implementing and promoting pediatric TB initiatives in Vietnam’s rural and remote communities. Please join with me in making him welcome to the wider Loreto community, as we are all part of the continued excellent work achieved by Loreto Vietnam. You are welcome to follow the great work of Loreto Vietnam on its Facebook page.

MEET MR NGUYEN VIET DUNG

Striving for community empowerment and social impact are Viet Dung’s passion and commitment for nearly 20 years. He graduated from the University of New South Wales, Australia with the double degrees (Master of Public Health and Master of Health Management) and studied International Relations and International Law at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam-Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as other trainings over multi-sectoral platforms in Canada, USA, France, etc. He was working for Ministry of Health in Vietnam Steering Committee on Smoking and Health to coordinate national communications and health promotion initiatives. This gave him a chance of working at both local and global environments such as policy advocacy, fundraising, international relations and negotiations and organizing study tours between Vietnamese and international governments. Afterwards, he worked for PATH-a leading global health organization and was in charge of local marketing and communications scopes for multiple projects including HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, tuberculosis and hypertension. Along with these tasks, he successfully coordinated various children-oriented initiatives such as smoke-free schools, models of community TB control or national contests of TB-themed paintings for children. Proud to be a great friend of all the children he has been working with and for, he is fully devoted to promoting and fighting for children’s rights and inspiring others to join hands for a better world for our children.
