FORMATION
Formation for Mission
Formation strengthens our collective mission and is critical to supporting the stewardship of our mission into the future. Participation in ongoing formation is an expectation of all senior leaders of Loreto ministries.
WHAT FORMATION MEANS AT LORETO
Formation is both individual and communal - a personal quest for meaning enriched in dialogue with the gifts brought to the table by all members of our network: their professional experience, ethical and moral frameworks, and the desire to use one's strengths in the service of others.
Formation in the Mary Ward tradition is grounded in everyday life. We come to a deeper awareness of the significance and richness of 'the ordinary' when we reflect on our lives and service in dialogue with the life and teaching of Jesus.
"In this way, we create necessary space for the 'who' and 'why' of our work to inform the 'what' and 'how'."
Through the practice of Ignatian spirituality, we are invited to encounter the holiness of our daily lives and the challenges of our world. Loreto Ministries provides formation that is Catholic, inclusive, relational, holistic, intentional and vocational.

HOW WE SUPPORT FORMATION
Dedicated leadership support
Authentic leadership of the Loreto mission is nourished by opening one's heart to formation. Support for the formation of senior leaders is led by the Loreto Ministries Director, Mission & Identity and the Mission Integration Committee, a standing committee of the Loreto Ministries Board.
Resources and frameworks
Contextual formation frameworks shape dedicated resources, programs and experiences that provide a common foundation for knowledge, dialogue and reflection. Informed by Mary Ward's Ignatian spirituality, these frameworks and resources support authentic, mission-focused governance and leadership.
Dialogue and shared wisdom
Senior leaders across the Loreto network are supported in the ongoing work of formation through intentional dialogue, spiritual conversation and reflective practice. Contributors from across the wider Catholic and Loreto network enrich these formative experiences by bringing diverse perspectives, experience and wisdom, helping to ensure they are relational, inclusive and mission-focused.
