OUR SCHOOLS

Six Schools.
One Network.
A Shared Mission.

Each of our six Loreto schools in Australia is outstanding in its commitment to a shared mission. Led by exceptional leadership teams and supported by the dedication of parents, teachers and past students, each school has its own character, community and story - all shaped by the same faith tradition.

Loreto Educational Philosophy

Loreto schools aim to meet the spiritual, intellectual, and social needs of each student; developing more fully the ability of the young person to think and act objectively and responsibly, to value the search for truth, and to appreciate the dignity and value of every human person.

Loreto schools offer a Catholic education which liberates, empowers and motivates students to use their individual gifts with confidence, creativity and generosity in loving and responsible service.

Students and families who choose a Loreto education experience a Catholic education grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the charism of Mary Ward, which is imbued with the Loreto values of Verity, Justice, Sincerity, Freedom and Felicity. The Loreto Educational Philosophy guides the Loreto schools, serving to inspire and steer the purposes, objectives, and focus areas. It is an essential foundational document linking the Loreto schools and articulating the beliefs, values and understandings that characterise a Loreto education. It identifies the aims of a Loreto education, provides guidance to Loreto schools and informs the educational vision of each school.

Mary Ward Schools’ Compass

A Mary Ward school today affirms the centrality of the person of Jesus. His gospel and our particular charism offer an education centred on a profound way of living and learning, acting as a positive force for transformation of lives.

The Mary Ward Schools’ Compass is a guiding educational document developed in 2017 at an international conference, held in South Africa, of members of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM), Congregatio Jesu (Congregation of Jesus or CJ) and representatives from schools in 21 countries. This network is made up of over 180 Mary Ward schools worldwide. The document identifies eight markers which Mary Ward schools use to ensure that they continue to offer educational, co-curricular and student wellbeing programs which are relevant in a rapidly changing world and which empower students to become agents of change in a global society.

The Compass ensures that Mary Ward Schools remain ‘rooted, responsive and relevant’ as we create a oneness through our diversity, across the boundaries and borders of our world.

Mission Statement

The Loreto Schools of Australia Mission Statement articulates the shared vision and values that unite Loreto schools across Australia. Inspired by Mary Ward's belief that "women in time to come will do much", it affirms the power of education to liberate, empower and equip young women to lead lives of purpose, service and influence. Grounded in the Gospel and the enduring Loreto values of freedom, justice, sincerity, verity and felicity, it continues to guide the mission and culture of every Loreto school.
