About the School

Bayview College, Portland, is an associated school with deep roots in the Loreto tradition. Established by the Loreto Sisters in 1884 at the invitation of Bishop James Moore, the school was one of the earliest Loreto foundations in Australia and played an important role in the educational and spiritual life of the Portland community. In 1977, responding to the needs of the local community, Loreto College became an ecumenical, co-educational school known as Christian Community College, before adopting the name Bayview College in 1996.

Today, Bayview College continues to honour its Loreto heritage while embracing its unique identity as an independent Christian community school. The College remains connected to the broader Loreto story through its shared history, values and commitment to educating young people to make a positive contribution to society. Loreto Ministries values this enduring relationship and the important place Bayview holds within the wider Loreto heritage in Australia.
